Week Two

So this week, being on a diet has become more of a reality.  Fewer calories a day, healthy snacks and hitting the gym at 6AM is beginning to take it's toll.  I went to the mall with my good friend and we stopped in at Williams Sonoma.  One of the displays had a picture of a chocolate chip cookie bar on it, and I almost licked the cardboard sign!  I find that when I stay busy getting through tempting hunger pains isn't so bad.  It's when I'm just at home with the kids they become harder to ignore, although sitting down and blogging about it does help.
This Weeks Dilemma:  Give me some suggestions on how you get through hunger pains/temptations?

So as I mentioned I started hitting the gym this week.  I've never been to one before and half the equipment there is foreign to me, but I found I really enjoy it.  It feels so official to go and work out in a gym, and it's kind of fun (for someone who hates exercise).  When looking into gym memberships I realized how crazy high the prices are so I looked to our community center for options.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that they offer long term and short term memberships to a great work out room and track.  I got a three month membership to get me through the winter, and it cost $1 a day!  Great deal :)

This weeks weight loss: 4 lbs
Total weight loss: 9 lbs

  1. Keep up the great progress! I'm proud and really excited for you on how many lbs you have already lost!
My thought process on when you are hungry is that you should be able to eat a healthy snack....bananas are filling. I would also think celery and peanut butter would be ok... I guess Googling for some ideas/options might also be helpful.
Keep at it! :) I'm rooting for you. I promise I wont drag you into cooking stores anymore so you wont be tempted to lick any pictures! HaHa

  2. 9 lbs??? That's awesome!!! Great job J!!!
I get through my hunger pains by starting a project, such as homework or doing the dishes. That consumes enough time (about a half hour) for my hunger pains to pass. However, when I'm feeling lazy I can always turn to food network! Watching a food/cooking show helps me fantasize about food while not actually eating any.
Keep up the good work J!

  3. Are you naturally a morning person? HOW do you make yourself go to the gym at 6:00? I haven't done morning workouts since I was in college, and everytime I try to start up again, it's an epic fail.

  4. You go girl! You are a hot mama anyways, but now you'll be smoking' hot! :) I was going to suggest a piece of gum for hunger pains, or sweet tooth pains? Also, it's better to give in a little instead of giving up...so....if you're craving chocolate REALLY bad, allow yourself one bite and savor that bite for as long as you can. That has helped me before, but if that's just a bigger temptation than don't try it. Hope that helps. Keep it up and definitely get your other half involved! That's always a good motivator and accountability is good too. Love you!

  5. Wow! Thanks for all the great suggestions! Noreen, gum is a great idea. I really like the new dessert delight gums from Extra. The chocolate mint is awesome and has gotten me through some hunger pains this week. Alexa, starting a project is great too! There is always something to be done. Alison, yes, I am a morning person so it's not too bad. I've started to go in when it opens at 5:30 to get some more time in. Of course I do go to bed at 9:00 like a grandma :)

  6. Ang, Thanks for all the encouraging words on the computer and in real life! When I get to my goal weight we should make some chocolate chip cookie bars (substitute the sugar for apple sauce of course ;) ;)
